Profile

Dr Juan D. Hernández Vega is a robotics researcher with extensive experience in autonomous systems and motion planning. His doctoral work focused on autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) that navigate and map unknown environments without prior knowledge, emphasizing safe exploration and real-time decision-making. He has worked in both industry and academia, contributing to advanced robotics projects at institutions such as TNO in the Netherlands and Rice University in the United States. His research has centered on developing motion planning techniques to enhance human-robot collaboration. In the tech industry, Juan has also held a senior engineering role at Apple Inc., where he contributed to the development of simulation tools for autonomous systems

Colombian-Spanish roboticist who, after living and working in several countries (Colombia, Spain, Netherlands, USA), decided to establish and develop his academic career in Cardiff. I will be happy and proud to promote Wales as the perfect destination for academics in different stages of their career. I also look forward to bringing some of the most relevant international conferences in robotics to Wales."
