Event Overview

On 1st December 2025 350 delegates from 29 countries attended the Wales Investment Summit at the International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales) and Celtic Manor Resort.  22 Wales-based businesses worked on the Summit, which provided a major opportunity to present Wales as a prime destination for high-value international investment and to demonstrate the collective strengths of its economy, its businesses, its universities and colleges, and its communities.

Event Objectives

The Welsh Government wished to raise the profile of Wales as a dynamic and sustainable economy, showcasing how it responds to global business drivers and promote growth, green jobs, and decarbonisation. It also wished to present Wales as a hub of UK excellence, highlighting priority sectors, places and clusters demonstrating that Wales is as an outstanding investment destination within the UK.

The Welsh Government saw the event as an opportunity to position Wales - and a focussed range of local and regional project opportunities across areas such as regeneration, energy and infrastructure - as an attractive commercial proposition for private sector finance.

And finally, it aimed to link investors to future opportunities, ensuring the Summit acts as a catalyst for new investment and long-term economic partnerships.

Scale and format

ICC Wales hosted plenary sessions and agile breakouts spotlighting Wales’ key growth sectors - Tech & Digital, Compound Semiconductors, Clean Energy, Life Sciences, Creative Industries, and Advanced Manufacturing. Flexible spaces, advanced AV, and imaginative set-ups created the perfect environment for collaboration and decision-making.

The 300+ attendees were able to listen to interviews with renowned economists, investors, and industry leaders on matters such as the global investment landscape, financing a sustainable future for Wales, and innovation, talent and opportunity.  His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales delivered a keynote address and met with Welsh companies who were showcasing their products and services, demonstrating the breadth of innovation and skills that already exist and that can support global supply chains.

For the evening the Atrium and Main Hall were transformed by a 360° showcase into an epic immersive environment welcoming the world to Wales. A sumptuous menu curated by the Welsh Culinary Association and celebrating the nation’s finest produce was paired with amazing live entertainment and helped to complete a sensational opening night that elevated Welsh culture and creativity.

All the visiting delegates stayed at the five-star Celtic Manor Resort and, on the day before the main conference, the Resort’s Hunter Lodges were transformed into innovation hubs, hosting fireside chats, strategy sessions, and small-group discussions to showcase some of Wales’ sector strengths. Breaking away from traditional meeting formats, the dynamic spaces and wellness-focused environments sparked energy, creativity and meaningful engagement.

Delegates were also given the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of sporting legends with a round of golf on the Twenty Ten Course, the stage for such a memorable contest when the Ryder Cup came to Wales in 2010.

In essence the event was a celebration of Wales and a powerful demonstration of what happens when leaders, innovators, and policymakers come together in a versatile setting.

Events like this provide crucial focus for business and government to work together and make deals that will benefit communities the length and breadth of Wales. Wales offers a compelling investment proposition thanks to our world-class infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a strategic location that provides access to major UK and European markets."

Legacy

The Summit effectively aligns with the Welsh Government’s Research Excellence Framework, spotlighting six sectors in which Wales is already leading the way, and which are primed for growth.

During the event, Wales’ First Minister, Eluned Morgan and her Ministerial colleagues were involved in around 50 meetings with companies that are either existing investors or are interested in investing in Wales.  Since the Summit, officials have been busy following up leads and fielding calls from businesses keen to continue the conversation about investment opportunities in Wales.

It was an honour to host Wales’ largest ever business event and support Welsh Government in bringing crucial new international investment to Wales. Our world-class facilities came to the fore in providing the perfect settings to promote Welsh business and our teams did an amazing job in delivering the Summit and providing the warmest of Welsh welcomes to our distinguished guests."
