A one-off venue experience with appeal to UK-wide groups with exacting requirements.
Familiarly known as “CAT”, the Centre for Alternative Technology is a unique place to meet. Located in Machynlleth in Mid-Wales, the venue is a commutable distance from Shrewsbury and Telford with easy access to the Midlands, M5 and M6 motorways.

Located within a UNESCO cited biosphere, the Dyfi Biosphere.
The venue is ideal for those exploring alternative technologies or simply for those looking for a more sustainable solution for their own event. CAT is an educational charity dedicated to researching and communicating positive solutions to environmental change. The site is spread across seven acres and includes hands-on displays, examples of environmentally responsible buildings, renewable energy, organically managed gardens and more.

A wholly compliant setting for sustainable event planning and carbon offset impact.
This is a world-renowned eco centre. The main Visitor Centre is an award-winning building made wholly of sustainable materials, the venue also has eco-friendly and compliant accommodation on-site and precise standards for both vegetarian and vegan catering and hospitality.

A first choice for sustainable events.
With a focus on wellbeing and mental health, CAT caters for a new breed of meeting and event attendee. Carbon conscious meeting planners can be reassured of an off-site experience that marries first-class meeting and event facilities with fringe activities that focus on wellness and making an all-important connection with nature.

Beautiful light-filled theatre with space for 150 with a further six breakout spaces. Accommodation for 24 single or double occupancy. Meeting and event planners should make best use of the public and shared spaces, both indoor and outdoor and including the pretty courtyard and organic garden.

The site continues to build on a well-held reputation as a busy 'experience-led' destination with a range of on-site training and education courses available. The Café and very well stocked Eco Shop help to deliver a 'campus' feel for all meeting and event attendees and plenty of added interest.

On World Bee Day, CAT was awarded Bee Friendly status as part of a Welsh Government initiative to make Wales a pollinator friendly country.
