Following his doctoral studies, he pursued a two-year postdoctoral fellowship with the Complexity in Materials group at the Institute for Scientific Interexchange in Turin, Italy. Currently, Dr Mughal serves as a Lecturer in Mathematical Modelling at the Department of Mathematics, Aberystwyth University. Dr Mughal is a theoretical physicist working on packing problems and the effects of geometry & topology in soft matter & biology. In particular, he is interested in packing problems, foams and the role played by conformal geometries in these systems.

Additionally, I founded an online seminar series on soft matter and physics to enhance international collaboration. Through these initiatives, I strive to position Wales as a premier hub for scientific dialogue and innovation."
